Sarah Whittaker

Sarah’s 1st downward facing dog brought an overwhelming sense of, “finally I’m home” to her in her 1st yoga class in 1995. Soon after she discovered the healing powers of yoga having lived for 5 years with a fused and sensitive neck.

She created her 1st yoga studio, “Ashford Valley Yoga” in 2002 out of a sheer craving for the practice. Her discovery of Ashtanga Yoga brought her to her 1st teacher training at the Ashtanga Yoga School of Seattle in 2000.

Sarah’s curiosity was then directed to many other modalities and styles of yoga, and trough travel, extensive workshops, and festivals throughout the USA and India,

she was gifted the ability to sit at the feet of many masters over many years.

A volunteer for “Yoga Behind Bars” since 2010, she has been teaching inmates at the Washington Corrections Center for Women which led to a scholarship to “Off the Mat Into the World” a global non profit organization unifying yoga and activism for social change.

This has been her great joy bringing the gift of sensation and inquiry to those who have been deeply removed from themselves, and then witnessing transformation unfold.

She is the owner/founder of Yoga Paradise located in a 36’ yurt outside Mt. Rainier Natl. Park in Ashford, and a long haul student/teacher of Trauma Informed Yoga.

This has enlightened her teaching practice to be intuitive, inclusive, safe, and above all joyful.

Sarah’s practice asks that we may invite our curiosity, exploration, and deep soulful truth through witness and inquiry within. Bearing witness to ourselves, all that we are feeling and observing while on the mat. This is your practice. It’s very personal, it’s very private, and it belongs only to you, your gift to you.

Welcome home.
